This second hand PA speaker pair are in great condition
The Mackie Thump 15A is a loud, punchy, budget‑friendly powered PA speaker designed for gigging musicians, DJs, rehearsal rooms, and small venues.
It delivers strong low‑end, simple onboard mixing, and the kind of rugged practicality Mackie’s Thump series is known for.
If you want a speaker that hits hard without hitting your wallet, the 15A is one of the most popular choices in its class.
Design & Features
The Thump 15A is built around a 1300W Class‑D amplifier powering:
- 15" woofer
- 1" compression driver
- Built‑in 2‑channel mixer
- Four voicing modes (Music, Live, Monitor, Sub)
- Feedback Eliminator
- Music Ducking mode (Channel 2 auto‑ducks when Channel 1 is active)
Sound Quality
Low End
This is the Thump signature:
- Big
- Punchy
- Club‑friendly
- Great for DJs and electronic music
The 15" woofer gives it more weight than the 12A, especially for kick drum, bass guitar, and backing tracks.
Mids
Clear enough for vocals and acoustic instruments, though not as refined as higher‑end boxes (QSC, Yamaha DXR, RCF).
Highs
Crisp and present, but can get a little sharp at very high volumes.
For most live band and DJ use, they cut through well.
Overall Character
- Loud
- Bass‑forward
- Designed for real‑world gigging rather than audiophile accuracy
Real‑World Use
Live Bands
Great for:
- Vocals
- Backing tracks
- Keys
- Electronic drums
- General front‑of‑house use
The built‑in mixer is handy for quick setups or small acoustic gigs.
DJs
This is where the Thump 15A shines.
The low‑end response is ideal for dance, hip‑hop, and pop sets.
Rehearsal Rooms
Loud enough to compete with drums and guitar amps.
The feedback eliminator helps in tight spaces.
Stage Monitors
The Monitor voicing mode works surprisingly well, though the 15" size is a bit large for wedge duty unless you need serious volume.
Build Quality & Reliability
The Thump 15A is built to be thrown in vans, dragged into pubs, and used hard:
- Tough polypropylene cabinet
- Steel grille
- Lightweight for its size (around 15–16 kg)
- Good handle placement
Pros
- Loud and punchy, especially in the low end
- Excellent value for money
- Built‑in mixer and DSP are genuinely useful
- Feedback eliminator and ducking mode add real practicality
- Lightweight and easy to transport
- Great for DJs, bands, and rehearsal rooms
The Mackie Thump 15A is a loud, energetic, and highly practical powered speaker that delivers excellent value for gigging musicians and DJs.
It’s built to get the job done, hit hard, and survive the realities of live performance.
If you want a speaker that’s powerful, affordable, and easy to use, the Thump 15A is one of the strongest contenders in its price range.
