Description

This second hand banjo is in great condition,

Ozark 2113G Open Back “Frailing” Banjo, a solid choice for fans of traditional old-time, frailing, and clawhammer playing styles:

 Tone & Sound Quality

The Ozark 2113G is praised for its warm, mellow tone—ideal for low-tone, rhythmic frailing. It accurately captures the deep, resonant sound of early American folk music. One user noted it “sings out just like the old times with its low tones,” and “holds its tuning very, very well”

The rolled brass tone ring contributes clarity and projection, balancing mellow mids with enough brightness to avoid sounding muddy

 Build Quality & Construction

Built with a walnut shell and neck, the banjo offers both warmth and durability  It features home-friendly design touches:

  • Ovangkol fingerboard with star inlays and a “frailer scoop” after the 18th fret—making upper-fret clawhammer playing more accessible and smoother

  • Double coordinator rods and 24 brackets ensure solid structural support.

  • Uses planetary geared pegs, which maintain reliable tuning stability across playing sessions

  • An 11″ Remo coated head and 665 mm scale length round out the specifications

 Playability & Setup

The scooped fretboard improves access for traditional clawhammer techniques, making it feel natural to play. Many stores, like Eagle Music, offer pre-setups so the banjo arrives ready to play—bridges positioned and strings tuned

A Banjo Hangout review comparing models praised the 2113G sound while noting it seemed on par with many pro-level instruments at twice the price

Pros:

  • Authentic, warm frailing tone thanks to maple/walnut build & tone ring

  • Scooped fingerboard perfectly suited to frailing/clawhammer styles

  • Reliable tuning and setup from retailers

  • Solid build with quality hardware

 Who It’s For
