Description

The Squier Classic Vibe ’60s Jazzmaster is a beautifully styled recreation of one of Fender’s most distinctive offset guitars, offering classic 1960s looks, authentic Jazzmaster tones and an impressive level of playability. Finished in 3-Colour Sunburst with a 4-ply tortoiseshell pickguard, vintage-tinted neck and nickel-plated hardware, it has plenty of vintage appeal while remaining accessible to players looking for a versatile everyday instrument.

The poplar body is paired with a comfortable maple “C”-shaped neck and an Indian Laurel fingerboard. The 9.5-inch fingerboard radius and narrow-tall frets provide a modern playing feel compared with the rounder fingerboards found on many vintage Jazzmasters, making bends and lead playing particularly comfortable while still retaining the character of the original design. A bone nut and 25.5-inch scale length complete the familiar Fender-style feel.

The guitar features a pair of Fender-designed Alnico single-coil pickups, delivering the clear, articulate and slightly raw character associated with the Jazzmaster. The neck pickup provides a fuller, smooth tone that works particularly well for clean rhythm playing, while the bridge pickup has more bite and aggression for lead lines, rock and more driven sounds. The pickups also respond well to pedals, making the guitar a particularly good choice for indie, alternative, blues, surf and shoegaze players.

One of the Jazzmaster’s defining features is its dual-circuit control system. The lead circuit provides the standard volume, tone and three-way pickup selection, while the separate rhythm circuit offers dedicated thumbwheel controls for the neck pickup. This gives players a useful way of switching between contrasting sounds without relying solely on amp or pedal settings.

The vintage-style floating bridge and non-locking vibrato add another layer of character, allowing everything from subtle pitch movement to expressive vibrato effects. The vintage-style tuners and overall hardware complement the retro design, while the 4-ply tortoiseshell pickguard and aged-white controls give the 3-Colour Sunburst model a particularly convincing 1960s appearance.

Reviews have generally highlighted the guitar’s strong value for money, comfortable neck and versatile sound. Some individual owners have reported that a little setup work may be beneficial, particularly around fret finish, action or vibrato adjustment, so as with many guitars in this price range, a professional setup can help get the very best from the instrument.

Overall, the Squier Classic Vibe ’60s Jazzmaster is an excellent option for players who want the unmistakable look and sound of a classic Jazzmaster without the higher price of a Fender-branded model. With its comfortable neck, Fender-designed Alnico pickups, distinctive dual-circuit electronics and expressive floating vibrato, it is equally at home with clean tones, vintage-inspired sounds and heavily effected modern music. The 3-Colour Sunburst finish also gives it a timeless appearance that makes this a particularly appealing addition to any guitar collection.
