Description

This second hand electric guitar is in very good condition

Some tarnishing to the pickup covers,,

The 2010 Epiphone G‑400 Tony Iommi is a high‑gain, SG‑style signature model built around mahogany construction, a slim‑taper neck, 24 frets, giving it the thick, aggressive, articulate tone associated with early Black Sabbath. It’s one of the most respected Epiphone signature models of its era thanks to its hardware, playability, and unmistakable aesthetic.

 Build & Construction

The Tony Iommi G‑400 is built on the classic SG platform:

  • Body: Solid mahogany with the traditional SG double‑cutaway shape, thin and lightweight for fast access and resonance.
  • Neck: Set mahogany neck with slim taper profile for speed and comfort.
  • Fingerboard: Rosewood with 24 jumbo frets and cross inlays, a signature Iommi visual element.
  • Hardware: Black chrome hardware with Tune‑o‑Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece.

The 24‑fret layout and slim neck make it feel more modern and metal‑focused than a standard G‑400.

Electronics & Tone

This is where the 2010 Iommi G‑400 stands out:

  • Pickups: A pair of Tony Iommi humbuckers ,high‑output, aggressive, and voiced for heavy riffing.
  • Controls: Standard SG layout, two volume, two tone, and a 3‑way selector.

Tone characteristics:

  • Thick, saturated distortion with strong midrange
  • Tight low end suitable for doom, stoner, and classic metal
  • Surprisingly articulate for leads despite the high output
  • Clean tones are usable but naturally hot and prone to breakup (typical of Iommi‑voiced pickups)

 Playability

The G‑400 platform is known for comfort, and the Iommi version enhances that:

  • Slim taper neck encourages fast riffing and wide vibrato.
  • 24 frets give you a full two octaves per string—ideal for metal soloing.
  • Lightweight SG body reduces fatigue but can be slightly neck‑heavy (typical SG trait).

The ebony‑style aesthetic and cross inlays give it a premium feel compared to standard G‑400s.

Strengths

  • Iommi pickups deliver authentic Sabbath‑style tone
  • 24 frets and slim neck make it fast and expressive
  • Mahogany body provides warmth and sustain
  • Black chrome hardware and cross inlays look iconic
  • Excellent value compared to Gibson signature models

The 2010 Epiphone G‑400 Tony Iommi is one of the strongest signature models Epiphone released in the 2000s–2010s. With its  pickups, 24‑fret layout, and unmistakable Iommi styling, it delivers a genuinely heavy, authoritative tone that feels far more “pro” than its price bracket suggests.

If you want the closest affordable route to classic Iommi tone, this model absolutely nails it.
