Description

This is an Anglo‑concertina — a small, hand‑held free‑reed instrument played by compressing and expanding bellows while pressing buttons at each end. Unlike accordions (keys on the front), concertina buttons are on the sides and produce notes as air flows through individual reeds.

Reed count: 40 reeds (2 per note on 20 buttons)

Button layout: 20 buttons — usually tuned C/G, a standard pairing in folk music.

Range: About 2½ octaves — enough for many traditional tunes and simple melodies.

Finish: Red pearl, offering a visually striking look.

This mix of features makes it suitable as a starter instrument or folk music companion — especially in genres like Irish and English traditional music.

👍 Pros
🎶 Great Value for Folk & Traditional Playing

The 40‑reed design gives a fuller, louder sound and decent range for melodies and chordal play compared with cheaper mini concertinas.

Anglo‑style systems like this (C/G) are widely used for folk tunes, jigs, reels, and sea shanties — a big plus if you play in sessions or acoustic groups.

🪶 Compact & Portable

Concertinas are lightweight and easily transportable, ideal for busking, traveling, festivals, or jam sessions. Many units include straps and a gig bag.

🎨 Eye‑Catching Aesthetic

The red pearl finish isn’t just decorative — it’s a distinctive, classic style that stands out visually in performance without being garish.

🎼 Learner‑Friendly

20 buttons with 40 reeds give a straightforward setup for beginners transitioning into melody and harmony playing. Some sellers also tune and check the instrument before shipping.
