Build & Construction
The Redwood M20E is built to be affordable but surprisingly well‑appointed for its price bracket.
- Body: Maple, with traditional F‑holes for projection and a bright, focused voice.
- Neck: Nato, paired with a black walnut fingerboard ,durable and smooth under the fingers
- Frets: 20, with white dot markers.
- Hardware:
- 14:1 tuners for stable tuning

Tone & Electronics
Acoustic tone
The maple body and F‑holes give the M20E a tone that is:
- Bright and cutting
- Good for ensemble playing
- Clear but not overly complex (expected at this price)
Plugged‑in performance
A key selling point is the built‑in pickup system:
- Simple volume and tone controls
- Works well for live use, busking, or recording scratch tracks
- Clean, usable amplified tone, ideal for folk, acoustic pop, or light bluegrass
Playability
The M20E is designed to be approachable:
- Comfortable neck profile for beginners
- Smooth walnut fingerboard
- Light overall weight
- Good fretwork for the price
It’s not a high‑end mandolin, but it’s easy to play, especially for guitarists transitioning to mandolin.
Real‑World Use
Home practice:
Great for learning mandolin basics or adding new textures to songwriting.
Live gigs:
The pickup makes it stage‑ready without needing an external mic.
Recording:
Bright tone sits well in a mix; plugged‑in sound is clean enough for demos.
Beginners:
Excellent first mandolin, affordable, playable, and not fussy.
Strengths
- Excellent value for money
- Attractive sunburst finish
