Martin Dreadnought Jr E Left Hand 2018

The Martin Dreadnought Junior E is a compact electro-acoustic guitar that combines the renowned craftsmanship of C.F. Martin & Co. with a comfortable, travel-friendly design. This 2018 left-handed model offers an excellent alternative to a full-sized dreadnought, delivering a surprisingly full and balanced sound in a smaller body. Designed for musicians who value portability without wanting to compromise on tone, it is an ideal companion for songwriting, home practice, travelling and live performance.

At the heart of the guitar is a solid Sitka spruce top, paired with solid sapele back and sides. This combination produces a clear, articulate acoustic voice with a pleasing balance of warmth, projection and definition. The spruce top responds well to changes in playing dynamics, making it equally suitable for delicate fingerpicking and more energetic strumming. The sapele body adds a strong midrange presence and a rounded tonal character, helping chords sound full and individual notes remain clear. Scalloped X-bracing further enhances the guitar's resonance and responsiveness, allowing it to deliver an impressive sound despite its reduced dimensions.

One of the defining features of the Dreadnought Junior is its compact body and 24-inch scale length. The shorter scale reduces the distance between frets and provides a comfortable playing experience, particularly for musicians who prefer a more manageable instrument. Its familiar dreadnought-inspired shape retains plenty of acoustic character, while the slightly smaller proportions make it convenient to carry between rehearsals, gigs and songwriting sessions. The 1¾-inch nut width also provides useful string spacing for fingerstyle playing and more intricate chord work.

The guitar features a select hardwood neck with a comfortable profile, complemented by a Richlite fingerboard and bridge. These materials provide a smooth, consistent playing surface and a practical, durable construction. The hand-rubbed satin finish gives the instrument an understated, natural appearance, while the multi-stripe rosette, faux tortoiseshell pickguard and chrome enclosed tuning machines complete its traditional Martin styling. The overall design is elegant without being overly decorative, allowing the natural character of the tonewoods to take centre stage.

For amplified playing, the Dreadnought Junior E is fitted with a Fishman Sonitone pickup system. This allows the guitar to be connected directly to an acoustic amplifier, PA system or recording equipment, making it suitable for open-mic nights, rehearsals and live performances. The onboard controls provide convenient adjustment of the amplified sound, while the pickup system allows the guitar's acoustic character to be carried into a performance setting. A soft gig bag was supplied with this model, making transportation and storage straightforward.

Combining solid tonewoods, a comfortable compact design and built-in electronics, the Martin Dreadnought Junior E Left-Handed is a versatile instrument for players who want quality acoustic sound in a more portable format. Its balanced tone works well for strumming, fingerpicking and accompanying vocals, while its shorter scale and left-handed configuration make it an appealing option for southpaw guitarists. For musicians seeking a dependable acoustic-electric guitar with classic Martin character, this 2018 model offers an excellent blend of comfort, practicality and musical versatility.
