The Ozark 2260 is an all‑solid, vintage‑style ‘A’‑model mandolin that combines traditional tonewood construction with classic hardware and a pleasing aesthetic. It’s designed for intermediate players, gig use, and serious hobbyists who want more resonance and projection than many entry‑level mandolins offer.
Hand‑carved solid spruce top — livelier, more responsive tone than laminated tops.
Solid mahogany back & sides — adds warmth and sustain to the overall voice.
Adjustable ebony bridge — lets you fine‑tune action and intonation for comfortable playability.
Gold‑plated tuners & tailpiece — classic look with stable tuning.
Oval soundhole A‑style body with vintage styling.
It also typically comes with a gig bag for storage and transport.
🎵 Tone & Playability
Rich, Balanced Acoustic Voice
Thanks to the all‑solid woods, this mandolin generally produces a fuller, more resonant tone compared to entry‑level instruments with laminate tops. Players often find the sound has a clear treble response with a warm midrange, suited for folk, old‑time music, and even bluegrass rhythm duties.
Good Projection
The combination of the carved spruce top and mahogany body gives the 2260 a stronger projection and dynamic range. While not quite at the level of boutique, hand‑crafted instruments, it is noticeably more robust than cheap starter mandolins.
Comfortable Action
The adjustable bridge allows you to set up the action to your preference, and the overall neck feel is balanced and playable for intermediate players. Some buyers still opt for a professional setup to dial it in perfectly, but many find it solid out of the box.
👍 Pros
✔ All‑Solid Tonewoods — louder, richer sound with better resonance than laminate models at similar price points.
✔ Classic Vintage A‑Model Shape — traditional look and sound that suits many acoustic styles.
✔ Quality Hardware — adjustable bridge and gold‑plated tuners improve tuning stability and playability.
✔ Nice Aesthetics — attractive finish and hardware give it a premium feel.
✔ Good Projection — ideal for sessions, small gigs, and ensemble playing.
👎 Cons & Considerations
❌ Not Boutique‑Level Tone – While solid‑wood build improves tone greatly over student mandolins, it won’t fully compete with high‑end boutique F or A‑style instruments from specialist makers.
