This second hand electro-acoustic guitar is in great condition
includes original Taylor hard case
The Taylor 410ce from 2002 represents one of the strongest eras of Taylor’s 400‑Series production. Built before the company shifted toward newer bracing patterns and V‑Class designs, these early‑2000s models are prized for their clarity, projection, and classic Taylor playability. The 410ce sits in a sweet spot: premium tonewoods and pro‑level performance without the boutique‑price tag of the 700/800 Series.
Build & Construction
The 2002 410ce follows the classic Taylor recipe of the time:
- Solid Sitka spruce top – crisp, responsive, and articulate
- Solid ovangkol back and sides – warm, rich midrange with smooth highs and lows
- Mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard – fast, comfortable, and stable
- Ebony bridge – enhances clarity and sustain
- Gloss top with satin back/sides – a typical Taylor aesthetic of the era
Fit and finish on early‑2000s Taylors is famously clean, precise fretwork, smooth neck profiles, and lightweight, resonant construction.
Tone & Sound Profile
The 410ce is a dreadnought, so you get:
- Big low‑end presence
- Strong projection
- Excellent headroom for strumming
Tonally, the pairing of spruce and ovangkol gives you:
- Bright, crisp top‑end from the spruce
- Warm, full midrange from the ovangkol
- Balanced lows that avoid muddiness
Compared to mahogany or sapele, ovangkol adds a slightly richer, more complex midrange , many players consider it an upgrade from the 300‑Series guitars of the same era.
The result is a guitar that excels at:
- Flatpicking
- Heavy strumming
- Singer‑songwriter accompaniment
- Live performance
It’s versatile, bold, and articulate without ever sounding harsh.
Electronics (2002 Era)
In 2002, Taylor was using Fishman prefix electronics, which was widely praised for its natural, uncolored amplified tone. Even today, the Fishman holds up well for gigging and recording.
Playability
Taylor necks from this period are known for:
- Slim, fast profiles
- Low, clean action
- Excellent intonation
The Venetian cutaway gives easy access to upper frets, making the 410ce a great choice for players who move beyond first‑position chords.
Pros
- Big, bold dreadnought projection
- Warm yet articulate tone from ovangkol and Sitka Spruce
- Excellent playability (classic Taylor feel)
- High‑quality construction and materials
- Reliable Expression System electronics
The 2002 Taylor 410ce is a superb mid‑range acoustic‑electric that punches far above its price bracket. With its solid tonewoods, powerful dreadnought voice, and signature Taylor playability, it remains one of the most reliable and musically satisfying guitars from the early 2000s Taylor lineup.
If you want a guitar that can handle everything from delicate fingerpicking to aggressive strumming—and sound great plugged in—the 410ce is a rock‑solid choice
