Digitech RP80 Multi-Effects Pedal

The DigiTech RP80 is a compact modelling/multi-effects pedal designed to give guitarists many tones and effects in one box. Some of its key features:

• 11 amp models + cabinet / acoustic modelling

• Multiple effects: chorus, delay, reverb, whammy / pitch-shifting, wah, phaser, tremolo, rotary, 

• Up to 9 effects can be used simultaneously in a patch chain

• Built-in expression pedal (for controlling volume, wah, whammy, etc) 

• Onboard tuner (13-LED arc display)

• Drum machine / rhythm patterns (used for practice)

So in terms of feature set, the RP80 is ambitious: it tries to pack many “classic” effects, amp modelling, and utilities (tuner, drum machine) into a single box for a relatively low cost.

What works well

Great value / “all-in-one” for budget users
One of the most praised aspects is the bang-for-buck. For many, the RP80 is a way to get dozens of effects without buying individual stompboxes.

Good versatility / many effects + presets
Because you get amp models and effects, you can build patches that combine drive, modulation, delays, etc. The factory presets are decent starting points. 
The ability to chain multiple effects is one of its strengths (you’re not limited to just one or two). 

Practice / home use features

• The built-in drum machine is a helpful feature for practising timing/rhythm. 

• The tuner is built in, so you don’t need an extra tuner pedal. 

• Headphone output and optional battery power make it more portable or usable in quiet settings. 

Compact & somewhat portable
Compared to having a pedalboard of individual effects, the RP80 is much neater. It reduces cable fuss and is easier to transport. 

The DigiTech RP80 is a solid entry-level / mid-range modelling multi-effects pedal. It brings a lot of functionality for its price: amp modelling, a full suite of effects, expression pedal, drum machine, tuner, etc. In that sense, it delivers on the promise of "many effects in one box.
