Electro Harmonix Soul POG Overdrive / Octave Pedal

The EHX Soul POG is a hybrid pedal that combines two popular Electro-Harmonix effects in one box:

• Soul Food , a transparent overdrive pedal known for its dynamic response and “touchy” drive. 

• Nano POG ,  a polyphonic octave generator that gives you sub-octave and octave-up signals, allowing for big octave-laden tones and harmonics.

You can use them alone or together, change the order (overdrive before octave, or octave before overdrive), and there’s an internal FX loop to insert other effects in between. There’s also a mode switch to select between two octave-up flavours.

   Having both a good overdrive and a capable octave generator in one pedal is compelling. It saves pedalboard space and power, yet gives access to tonal combinations that otherwise might need two (or more) pedals.

   The Soul Food side is praised for being “transparent” — meaning it adds crunch and grit without completely colouring the tone. You retain dynamics, touch sensitivity, and clarity. 

3. Polyphonic Octave Tracking
   The octave functions (both sub and up) track well, even in chords in many cases. The ability to blend dry, sub and up octaves gives a lot of room for creative sounds. 

4. Flexible Signal Routing
   Being able to choose whether the overdrive feeds into the octave or vice versa is a strong design choice. The built-in send/return (FX loop) between them lets you insert other pedals and get more complex chains. This adds flexibility you don’t always see in combo pedals. 

5. Build and Features
   The pedal includes the essential controls: dry blend, sub octave, octave up, overdrive’s drive/volume/treble, plus LEDs/switches for engaging each side. Its spec is good for what it does.

The Electro-Harmonix Soul POG offers a very attractive combination: good overdrive plus octave effects, in one box, with flexible routing. It does more than just “both in one”; the ability to reorder, insert effects, and pick octave modes gives it genuine utility.
