Description
This second hand electric guitar is in great condition
Few guitars in Fender’s mid‑2000s lineup hit the sweet spot between vintage vibe and modern playability quite like the Classic Player ‘60s Strat. The 2009 Sonic Blue model in particular has become something of a cult favourite, .
Aesthetic & Build Quality
Sonic Blue + mint green plastics + rosewood board is a timeless combination, and this model nails the look. It has that slightly aged, pastel‑vintage charm without feeling like a relic or a reissue clone.
- Made in Mexico, but absolutely one of the higher‑end builds of its era.
- Fit and finish are consistently strong: clean fretwork, tidy neck pocket, and a smooth poly finish.
- The vintage-style hardware (Kluson-style tuners, aged plastics, 6‑screw trem) completes the ‘60s aesthetic.
Neck & Playability
This is where the Classic Player series really stands out.
Neck specs:
- C-shaped neck, slightly chunkier than a modern C but not a baseball bat.
- 12" radius — It’s not vintage-correct, but it makes bends effortless and avoids choking out high up the neck.
- Medium jumbo frets give it a modern, slick feel.
- Rosewood fretboard is dark, smooth, and comfortable.
Tone & Electronics
The 2009 model comes loaded with Custom Shop ‘69 pickups, which is a huge selling point.
What they sound like:
- Bright, glassy highs without being harsh.
- Scooped mids that give that unmistakable Hendrix/Frusciante shimmer.
- Tight, articulate low end.
- The neck pickup is the star: warm but still sparkly.
- The bridge pickup is bright, but not ice-picky like some vintage sets.
These pickups love:
- Clean tones
- Slight breakup
- Modulation
- Fuzz (they stay articulate even when pushed)
Hardware & Tremolo
The 2‑point tremolo is another modern upgrade hidden inside a vintage aesthetic.
Pros:
- Smoother action than a vintage 6‑screw.
- More stable tuning.
- Works beautifully for subtle vibrato or more expressive dips.
How It Feels to Play
This guitar has a certain elasticity to the feel , snappy, responsive, and lively. The combination of:
- 12" radius
- Medium jumbo frets
- CS ‘69 pickups
- 2‑point trem
Perfect for players who want:
- A vintage look with modern playability
- Classic Strat tones
- A reliable, gig‑ready instrument
- A Strat that feels premium without the USA price tag
The Fender Classic Player ‘60s Strat Sonic Blue is one of the standout models of its era. It blends vintage style with modern comfort in a way that feels intentional rather than compromised. The pickups alone make it a killer value, and the playability is genuinely excellent.
It’s a guitar that rewards expressive playing, looks stunning on stage, and holds its own against far more expensive American models.
