Description
Description
This second hand acoustic guitar is in very good condition,. a bit of play wear on the back,
The Fender Gemini II, a Korean-made acoustic from the late '80s to early '90s that’s earned a loyal following among players who appreciate rugged reliability and mellow tone.
The Gemini II was part of Fender’s budget-friendly acoustic line produced in Korea between 1988 and 1996. While not a high-end instrument, it’s a surprisingly capable dreadnought that has aged gracefully and continues to hold its own among entry-level and mid-tier acoustics.
- Body Shape: Classic dreadnought, offering strong projection and a familiar feel.
- Top: Spruce
- Back & Sides: Laminated mahogany or similar tonewood, contributing to its mellow character.
- Neck: Mahogany with a rosewood fretboard; comfortable profile, especially for rhythm players.
- Tuners: Chrome-plated, offset headstock design.
- Finish: Gloss natural
Tone & Sound
- Acoustic Voice: Surprisingly resonant for a laminate build. Balanced bass and treble, with a slightly scooped midrange that suits strumming and vocal accompaniment.
- Aging Effect: Many players report that the tone has mellowed nicely over time, gaining warmth and character.
Playability
- Neck Feel: Comfortable for beginners and intermediate players. Some models may show neck bowing over time, which can raise the action.
- Setup: Out of the box, it was playable but benefited from minor adjustments. Saddle and nut replacements are common upgrades.
- Durability: Nearly indestructible—many owners describe it as their “old beater” that just keeps going.
- This guitar often holds emotional weight for players—it’s been a first guitar, a reliable travel companion, or a pawn shop treasure. Despite its modest specs, it’s earned respect for its longevity and charm.
The Fender Gemini II isn’t flashy, but it’s a workhorse. It’s a solid choice for campfire jams, songwriting, or as a nostalgic backup.
The same model was used by Prince on the 1991 Diamonds and Pearls album.
According to Sylvia Massy, the official engineer for the Diamonds and Pearls sessions, the Gemini II was used throughout the entire album but is particularly prominent on the track Walk Don't Walk.
