Description

This second hand electric guitar is in very good condition.

All great, but some screw holes in the body where it appears a bigsby was once mounted

The 2019 Fender Vintera ‘70s Telecaster Custom in Fiesta Red is one of those guitars that instantly commands attention. It’s bold, retro, and unmistakably Fender—but with a personality all its own. The Vintera line set out to capture the feel and vibe of classic-era instruments, and this model might be one of the most successful executions in the entire series.

Build Quality & Aesthetics

The first thing that hits you is the look. Fiesta Red is a colour that refuses to be subtle, and paired with the black pickguard and wide-range humbucker, the guitar oozes 1970s cool. The fit and finish on the 2019 models is consistently strong: clean fretwork, tidy binding, and a finish that feels premium without being overly glossy.

The alder body keeps the weight in a comfortable range—solid enough to feel substantial, but not a shoulder-killer. The vintage-style hardware completes the aesthetic, giving the guitar a cohesive, era-correct vibe.

Neck & Playability

Fender went with a Thin C neck profile, which is a smart choice. It’s slimmer than the chunkier 70s necks some players expect, but it makes the guitar far more accessible to a wider range of hands. The 7.25" radius and vintage frets give it that unmistakable old-school feel—slightly curved, slightly tighter, and perfect for rhythm work and expressive bends once you get used to the fret size.

Players who love modern jumbo frets may need a moment to adjust, but once you settle in, the neck has a wonderfully musical, almost springy feel.

Electronics & Tone

This is where the Telecaster Custom earns its name. The combination of a Wide Range-style humbucker in the neck and a classic Tele single-coil in the bridge gives you a palette that’s far broader than a standard Tele.

Neck Pickup – Warm, Full, and Smooth

The re-voiced Vintera Wide Range humbucker isn’t a perfect recreation of the original CuNiFe design, but it gets impressively close in character. Expect:

  • Warm, rounded lows
  • A vocal midrange
  • Clear but not harsh highs
  • A slightly compressed, vintage-leaning response

It’s a superb pickup for blues, indie, jazz, and anything that benefits from a thicker, more expressive tone.

Bridge Pickup – Classic Tele Bite

The bridge single-coil is pure Telecaster DNA:

  • Bright and snappy
  • Tight low end
  • Enough twang to cut through a mix
  • Excellent clarity for rhythm or lead

It’s everything you want from a Tele bridge, but with a slightly vintage softness that keeps it from being ice-picky.

Middle Position – The Secret Weapon

Blend the two pickups and you get a wonderfully textured, almost semi-hollow-like chime. It’s one of the most musical tones on the guitar and perfect for clean rhythm work.

Hardware & Reliability

The vintage-style tuners are stable, smooth, and look the part. The 3-saddle bridge is classic Tele—intonation isn’t as laser-precise as a modern 6-saddle, but the tone payoff is worth it. Once dialled in, the guitar holds tuning well and feels gig-ready.

The Vintera ‘70s Telecaster Custom is ideal for players who want:

  • A vintage-inspired Tele with more tonal range
  • A guitar that excels in indie, rock, blues, funk, and alternative styles
  • A neck humbucker without losing the Tele bridge identity
  • A visually striking instrument with real stage presence

It’s also a great choice for players who love the idea of a Tele Deluxe or Custom but want something more affordable and accessible than the American Original or reissue models.

Pros

  • Gorgeous Fiesta Red finish with authentic 70s styling
  • Versatile pickup combination
  • Comfortable Thin C neck
  • Excellent build quality for the price
  • Vintage vibe without vintage headaches

Cons

  • Vintage frets may not suit everyone
  • Reissue Wide Range humbucker isn’t a true CuNiFe design
  • 3-saddle bridge requires a bit of finesse for perfect intonation

The Fender Vintera ‘70s Telecaster Custom (2019) in Fiesta Red is a standout guitar that blends vintage charm with modern playability. It’s visually striking, tonally flexible, and built with a level of care that makes it feel far more premium than its price tag suggests. Whether you’re chasing 70s tones, looking for a Tele with more depth, or simply want a guitar that looks incredible on stage, this model delivers in every meaningful way.
