Description

This second hand electric guitar is in very good condition. Some scratches on the back of the body, otherwise great. Includes original Gibson Hard Case.

The Gibson Les Paul BFG (Barely Finished Guitar) is one of the more unconventional instruments to come out of Gibson's USA factory, taking the familiar Les Paul shape and giving it a much more stripped-back, raw and individual character. The 2008 Limited Edition Bullion Burst is a particularly distinctive version, combining the BFG's unusual specification with an attractive gold finish. Produced as part of a limited 2008 run, it is an increasingly interesting model for players and collectors looking for something a little different from the traditional Les Paul.

Note that the finishing , missing truss rod cover , transparent wiring cavity covers and differing pickups are intentional cosmetic details.

The guitar features a chambered mahogany body topped with a carved, unsanded maple top. The Bullion Burst finish highlights the natural character of the maple, while the deliberately understated construction dispenses with traditional binding and elaborate cosmetic detailing. The result is a guitar with plenty of visual personality, retaining the unmistakable Les Paul outline but with a much more individual appearance. The mahogany neck features a rounded 1950s-style profile, paired with a rosewood fingerboard and 22 frets. Its 24.75-inch scale length provides the familiar feel associated with the Les Paul range.

One of the most interesting aspects of the BFG is its pickup combination. Rather than the conventional pair of humbuckers, Gibson fitted a P-90 single-coil pickup in the neck position alongside an exposed Zebra Burstbucker humbucker in the bridge. The P-90 delivers a lively, open character with plenty of midrange presence, making it particularly effective for blues, classic rock and more articulate clean sounds. The Burstbucker provides a considerably thicker, more powerful voice, with plenty of output, sustain and the familiar bite associated with Gibson rock guitars. Together, these pickups offer a particularly broad tonal range, moving comfortably between warm, expressive sounds and more aggressive overdriven tones.

The control layout is equally distinctive, featuring two volume controls, a master tone control and a three-way pickup selector. A separate kill switch adds another useful performance feature, allowing players to introduce rhythmic stutter effects and quick interruptions to their playing. Grover machine heads, a Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece complete the hardware specification.

The Gibson Les Paul BFG Bullion Burst Limited Edition is a characterful and individual take on the classic Les Paul design. Its combination of a chambered mahogany body, unusual raw maple top, P-90 and Burstbucker pickups and distinctive switching makes it a particularly versatile rock guitar. With its limited-edition 2008 Bullion Burst finish, it also has a certain collectability, offering something genuinely different from the more familiar Les Paul Standard and Traditional models.
