Godin 5th Avenue Jumbo 390

This second hand guitar is in very good condition.

The Godin 5th Avenue Jumbo 390 is a distinctive archtop guitar that combines classic styling with the excellent build quality and playability for which Godin guitars are known. Taking inspiration from the golden age of archtop instruments, the 5th Avenue Jumbo has a large, rounded body that gives it an unmistakable appearance and a warm, resonant character. It is an excellent choice for players looking for a guitar with plenty of personality that can cover a wide range of musical styles.

The Jumbo body is constructed from Canadian Wild Cherry, giving the instrument a lively acoustic response while keeping the overall construction relatively lightweight. The arched top, back and sides contribute to the guitar's natural resonance and distinctive tonal character. Finished in a tasteful vintage-inspired style, the 5th Avenue Jumbo has a look that sits somewhere between a traditional jazz archtop and a classic electric guitar, making it particularly appealing to players who appreciate vintage aesthetics.

The Silver Leaf Maple neck is comfortable in the hand and is paired with a Rosewood fingerboard, providing a smooth playing surface across all 21 frets. With a 24.84" scale length and 16" fingerboard radius, the guitar has a comfortable feel that works equally well for chord playing, lead lines and more intricate fretwork. The combination of the larger body and shorter scale also gives the instrument a particularly relaxed feel when compared with many conventional electric guitars.

One of the key features of the 5th Avenue Jumbo is its pickup configuration. The Godin Kingpin P90 pickups provide a broad, expressive sound with plenty of warmth and midrange character, while retaining the clarity and attack that make P90-style pickups so popular. They can produce smooth, rounded jazz tones when played cleanly, but also respond particularly well to blues, rockabilly, roots, country and classic rock sounds. Push the amplifier harder and the pickups deliver plenty of bite and character without losing the natural voice of the guitar.

The controls are straightforward, with individual volume and tone controls and a three-way pickup selector allowing you to quickly move between the neck pickup, both pickups and the bridge pickup. This makes the guitar extremely adaptable, whether you are looking for mellow rhythm tones, a fuller blended sound or something with more cut and definition for lead playing.

Hardware includes a Graphtech adjustable TUSQ bridge and trapeze-style tailpiece, providing a stable platform for the strings and helping to maintain good intonation. The combination of the large archtop body, P90 pickups and traditional hardware gives the 5th Avenue Jumbo a wonderfully distinctive voice that is difficult to replicate with a conventional solid-body design.

The Godin 5th Avenue Jumbo 390 is a great option for anyone looking for an instrument that offers vintage character without sacrificing modern playability. Whether you're playing jazz, blues, rockabilly, country, roots music or simply want an unusual and inspiring guitar for your collection, this Godin offers a versatile combination of looks, tone and Canadian craftsmanship.
