Description
Description
This second hand acoustic guitar is in very good condition
The MSC350 BK is one of Ibanez’s most interesting crossover designs, a slim, electric‑feeling acoustic with onboard electronics that let you switch between piezo acoustic clarity and magnetic electric tones. It’s not a traditional acoustic and it’s not a full electric; instead, it’s a purpose‑built hybrid for players who want one instrument to cover singer‑songwriter sets, worship gigs, acoustic pop, and light electric textures without changing guitars.
Build, Design & Feel
- Body: Slim, shallow acoustic body with a cutaway
- Top: Spruce
- Back & Sides: Mahogany
- Neck: Mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard
- Finish: High‑gloss black (BK) , sleek, modern, stage‑friendly
- Scale: 25.5in
- Nut Width: Electric‑style, comfortable for fast transitions
- Weight: Much lighter than a full electric, but more solid than a typical acoustic
Playability
This is where the Montage shines.
- Feels much closer to an electric guitar than an acoustic
- Slim neck profile, low action, and fast fretting
- Great for players who struggle with chunky acoustic necks
- Perfect for left‑handed players who prefer electric ergonomics (though LH versions are rare)
If you’re used to Ibanez electrics, this feels instantly familiar.
Electronics & Hybrid System
The MSC350’s electronics are the whole point of the instrument.
Dual Pickup System
- Piezo pickup under the saddle for acoustic tones
- Ibanez magnetic pickup in the soundhole for electric tones
You can:
- Blend the two
- Use them independently
- Switch modes on the fly
Preamp
- 3‑band EQ
- Phase switch
- Onboard tuner
- Feedback‑resistant design
- Balanced XLR output + standard ¼" jack
This makes it gig‑ready straight into a PA, no DI box required.
Tone Breakdown
Acoustic Mode (Piezo)
- Bright, articulate, and slightly compressed
- Not as full or woody as a traditional dreadnought
- Works extremely well in a band mix
- Great for strumming, pop, worship, and percussive playing
Electric Mode (Magnetic Pickup)
- Warm, mid‑focused, and surprisingly smooth
- Not a full electric tone, more like a clean jazz box
- Takes pedals well (chorus, delay, reverb sound excellent)
- Great for atmospheric playing, clean leads, and soft electric textures
Blended Mode
This is the sweet spot.
- Piezo adds clarity
- Magnetic adds warmth
- Together they create a unique, modern acoustic‑electric voice
- Perfect for solo performers who want depth without switching guitars
Live Performance & Recording
Live
- Zero fuss , plug straight into a PA
- Feedback control is strong thanks to the slim body
- Switching tones mid‑song is easy
- Works brilliantly for multi‑genre sets
Recording
- Piezo can sound a bit “quacky” soloed
- Blended tones record beautifully
- Magnetic pickup gives a warm, mic‑like quality
- Direct recording is clean and noise‑free
Strengths
- Electric‑like playability
- Versatile hybrid electronics
- Great for live performers
- Lightweight and comfortable
- Blended tones are genuinely unique
- Stage‑ready with XLR output
- Sleek, modern look
Who It’s For
- Electric players who need an acoustic without changing technique
- Singer‑songwriters
- Worship musicians
- Acoustic pop players
- Gigging musicians who want one guitar to cover multiple roles
- Anyone who values comfort and versatility over traditional acoustic tone
The Ibanez MSC350 BK Montage Hybrid is a clever, well‑executed crossover instrument. It’s not trying to be a Martin or a Strat , it’s a modern hybrid built for players who want comfort, versatility, and plug‑and‑play performance.
If you’re an electric player who dreads switching to a bulky acoustic, this guitar feels like home. If you’re a gigging musician who needs acoustic and electric textures in one set, it’s a powerful tool. Its acoustic tone isn’t the richest, but its blended and electric‑style tones make it a unique and highly practical stage instrument.
