Description

This second hand guitar is in very good condition.

A small cosmetic tint on the bottom of the body

The Tanglewood TWJDCE Java is one of those acoustics that immediately stands out, not just because of its exotic tonewoods, but because it delivers a bold, confident dreadnought voice with real stage utility. It’s built for players who want projection, warmth, and a guitar that looks like nothing else in its price range.

Tone & Sound

The Java series is known for its unusual wood pairing: Amara back and sides with a dramatic Spalted Mango centre wedge. It’s visually striking, but it also contributes to a slightly darker, more complex tonal character than your typical mahogany dreadnought.

  • Big low‑end presence
  • Strong projection
  • A full, confident midrange that supports vocals well

 Playability & Feel

Despite being a full dreadnought, the TWJDCE feels approachable:

  • The cutaway gives you access to higher frets without feeling bulky.
  • The Techwood fingerboard and bridge are smooth and stable.

 Electronics

Tanglewood equips this model with Fishman Presys or Fishman Sonitone electronics depending on production run. Both are:

  • Reliable
  • Natural‑sounding
  • Easy to use on stage

 Aesthetics & Build

This is where the Java series really shines:

  • The Amara/Mango back looks boutique and handcrafted.
  • The natural gloss finish highlights the dramatic grain.
  • The marquetry‑inspired detailing gives it a unique identity.

 Pros

  • Huge, warm dreadnought tone with excellent projection
  • Exotic tonewoods that look far more expensive than the price suggests
  • Solid cedar or spruce top depending on variant
  • Fishman electronics that are gig‑ready and dependable
  • Comfortable neck and smooth Techwood fingerboard
  • Cutaway for upper‑fret access
  • Great value for the craftsmanship and materials

 Cons

  • The dreadnought body may feel large for smaller players
  • The exotic wood aesthetic may not appeal to players who prefer traditional look

The Tanglewood TWJDCE Java is a bold, characterful dreadnought that punches well above its price. It offers a big, warm voice, reliable electronics, and some of the most striking woodwork you’ll find under £600. If you want a guitar that sounds powerful, plays comfortably, and looks genuinely unique, the Java Dreadnought is a standout choice.
