Description
This second hand acoustic guitar is in great condition
2011 model. includes original Taylor gig bag.
The 2011 Taylor 114 Left-Handed acoustic guitar is an excellent option for left-handed players seeking a well-crafted, mid-range instrument with Taylor's signature playability and tone. Part of Taylor’s 100 Series, the 114 features a Grand Auditorium body shape, known for its balanced sound and versatility across playing styles.
Build Quality & Materials
The 2011 Taylor 114 sports a solid Sitka spruce top, which delivers bright, articulate tones with good projection. The back and sides are made of layered sapele, offering durability and a warm, rich midrange response. Though it lacks the all-solid-wood construction of higher-end Taylors, the layered wood design makes it more resistant to climate changes—great for gigging musicians or those in varying environments.
The neck, made of tropical mahogany, is slim and comfortable, with Taylor's renowned playability. The ebony fingerboard provides a smooth playing experience, and the satin finish on the neck ensures fast movement across frets.
Tone & Sound Quality
The 114 Left-Handed produces a well-balanced tone with a crisp high end, warm mids, and tight low-end response. It has enough clarity for fingerpicking but also holds up well to strumming, making it versatile for different styles. Compared to dreadnoughts, the Grand Auditorium body has a slightly more articulate and focused sound, perfect for both solo performances and ensemble playing.
Playability & Comfort
One of the standout features of the Taylor 114 is its exceptional playability. Taylor’s low-action setup and precision fretwork make it easy to play, even for beginners transitioning to a higher-quality instrument. The Grand Auditorium shape is also more ergonomic than bulkier dreadnoughts, making it comfortable for extended playing sessions.
Value for Money
For a mid-range acoustic, the 2011 Taylor 114 Left-Handed offers excellent value. While it lacks high-end features like solid wood back and sides or an onboard pickup system , it still delivers premium craftsmanship and tone at a reasonable price.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Well-balanced tone with great clarity
- Comfortable neck and low action for easy playability
- Durable layered wood construction
- Excellent craftsmanship for the price
Cons:
- No electronics (unless upgraded to the 114e)
- Layered back and sides may not provide the full resonance of an all-solid wood guitar
The 2011 Taylor 114 Left-Handed is a fantastic choice for left-handed players seeking a high-quality, mid-range acoustic guitar with Taylor’s signature tone and playability. Whether you’re a beginner stepping up or a seasoned player looking for a reliable performance guitar, the 114 won’t disappoint.
