Description

This second hand guitar amp is in very good conditon

The VT40+ belongs to Vox’s Valvetronix+ line, which is a hybrid modeling amplifier design. It blends digital modeling with a small tube stage (Vox’s “Valve Reactor” circuit) to inject some tube-like character into the signal.

Some of the key specs and features:

  • 60 W (maximum output) through a single 10" speaker (redesigned for higher power handling compared to earlier models)

  • 33 amp models (each with three variations) for a wide palette of tones

  • Effects sections: multiple types of stomp, modulation/delay, and reverb. All three effect blocks can work simultaneously.

  • Power Level / wattage control: ability to back off the output to drive the amplifier harder at lower volumes (helpful in studios / practice)

  • Speaker-emulated headphone / line out (muting the speaker when used) — useful for silent practice or DI recordin

  • Built-in tuner, noise gate, user memory presets (8), footswitch compatibility

In essence, the VT40+ aims to be a versatile, all-in-one amp for home, studio, and smaller live situations.

What Works Very Well

  1. Versatility / tonal range

The strength of the VT40+ lies in how many sounds you can coax from it. From clean to crunchy to heavy, the variety is impressive.

  2. Tube character / warmth

The Valve Reactor stage (with a 12AX7) gives the modeling a bit more “juice” and some dynamic feel that purely digital amps sometimes lack. It helps the amp respond more naturally to playing dynamics.

For bluesy overdrive or vintage breakup settings, many find the VT40+ performs quite credibly.

  3. Power scaling / low-volume usability

One of the more clever features is being able to reduce wattage so that you can push the amp harder (for more distortion) while keeping the overall output manageable for home or studio use.

Because of that, the amp’s tonal character is less dependent on output level, making it more flexible at lower volumes.

  4. Good value / features for price

Given how much functionality is packed in — modelling, effects, tube stage, presets, headphone / line out — many users feel the VT40+ offers strong bang for the buck. It’s often compared favorably to individual pedals or lesser modelling amps given its range.

  5. Decent build & usability

The redesign of the speaker for higher power handling is a plus (over earlier VT versions)

Pros:

  • Huge tonal / effects flexibility

  • Tube-injected character (Valve Reactor) gives life to modeled tones

  • Power scaling / usable at low volumes

  • Very good value for what you get

  • Useful outputs (speaker emulation, headphone, presets)

The Vox Valvetronix VT40+ is a compelling hybrid modelling amp that offers a lot of flexibility, tonal variety, and features for its price. For those who want “one amp to do many things,” especially in home, studio, rehearsal or small-gig settings, it’s a strong contender.
