Description
Description
This second hand keyboard is in great condition.
The PSR‑S700 is a mid‑2000s arranger that still holds up surprisingly well thanks to its expressive Super Articulation voices, solid build, and gig‑ready features. As a songwriting tool or live keyboard for backing tracks, it remains a reliable, musical machine.
Build & Interface
- Sturdy chassis with a reassuring weight (around 12kg) , portable but not flimsy.
- Large, clear LCD that’s easy to navigate even in dim venues.
- Direct-access buttons for styles, voices, and registrations , no menu‑diving nightmare.
- Pitch bend + modulation wheel for expressive playing.
It feels like a proper instrument rather than a home keyboard, which is why so many gigging players kept them for years.
Sound Quality
This is where the S700 punches above its weight
Super Articulation Voices
Yamaha introduced early SA voices here, and they’re still impressive:
- Guitars with realistic slides and hammer‑ons
- Sax and wind instruments with breathy nuance
Sounds
- Pianos: Clean, bright, very Yamaha. Not as detailed as modern samples but sits well in a mix.
- EPs: Classic DX and warm tine sounds — great for pop and ballads.
- Organs: Solid, especially with rotary effects.
- Synths: Usable but not the main attraction.
Drums & Styles
The style engine is classic Yamaha: polished, musical, and mix‑ready.
- Pop, rock, jazz, Latin, and dance styles all sound tight and professional.
- Drum kits are punchy and well‑balanced.
- Auto‑accompaniment feels natural, not robotic.
For solo performers, it’s a plug‑and‑play backing band.
Features & Workflow
The PSR‑S700 gives you a lot of arranger power without overwhelming complexity.
Key Features
- 16‑track sequencer for building full arrangements
- Registration memory for instant recall of setups
- USB‑to‑device for loading styles and saving songs
- Multi‑pads for triggering phrases and effects
- Harmony & arpeggio functions for embellishing leads
Live Performance
- Mic input with vocal effects (compression, reverb, EQ)
- Assignable footswitch inputs
- Solid speakers that are loud enough for practice or small rooms
- Quick style switching for medleys or setlist changes
It’s a dependable gigging companion, especially for solo entertainers, pubs, restaurants, and small venues.
Who It’s For
- Songwriters who want instant inspiration
- Solo performers needing reliable backing styles
- Home players wanting a high‑quality arranger without modern price tags
The Yamaha PSR‑S700 is a musical, expressive, and still‑relevant arranger keyboard that delivers far more than its age suggests. It’s dependable, inspiring, and capable of producing polished arrangements quickly. It’s absolutely worth picking up especially if you want Yamaha’s classic arranger workflow without spending Tyros/Genos money.
