Description

This second hand speaker cabinet is in very good condition.

Includes cover. Has had one Celestion G12 speaker replaced at some point

The Blackstar Artisan 212  feels like it was built by people who genuinely care about tone. It’s not a mass‑market box; it’s a boutique‑leaning, hand‑wired companion to the Artisan amp line.

 Build Quality & Design

  • Finger‑jointed birch ply construction gives it that solid, resonant feel you expect from a high‑end cab.
  • The open‑back design isn’t fully open; it’s a semi‑open configuration that adds air and spread without losing too much low‑end focus.
  • It’s not light. At around 25–30 kg

Speakers & Tonal Character

Most Artisan 212s ship with Celestion Vintage 30s and the cab is voiced for classic British articulation.

With Vintage 30s:

  • Midrange authority—cuts through a mix without harshness.
  • Tight lows, not boomy.
  • Smooth but present highs, great for clarity at stage volume.

How It Performs in Real Use

Clean tones

Chimey, open, and harmonically rich. The cab breathes, which makes clean playing feel alive rather than sterile.

Crunch

This is where the Artisan 212 shines. It handles edge‑of‑breakup and classic crunch with a dynamic response that rewards touch and pick attack.

High gain

Surprisingly tight for a semi‑open cab. V30 versions handle modern gain well, though players who want ultra‑focused low end might prefer a closed‑back 4x12.

Pairing & Compatibility

The cab pairs beautifully with:

  • Blackstar Artisan heads (obviously)
  • Marshall Plexi‑style amps
  • EL84‑based boutique heads
  • Modern high‑gain amps that benefit from a more open, expressive cab

It’s less ideal for:

  • Players who want chest‑punching low‑end thump
  • Ultra‑portable rigs
  • Super‑scooped metal tones

The Blackstar Artisan 212 is a cab for players who value character, dynamics, and craftsmanship. It’s not trying to be a Swiss‑army‑knife 2x12—it’s a refined, musical cabinet that excels at classic British tones and rewards expressive playing.

If you’re building a rig that blends vintage feel with modern reliability, this cab is a standout choice. And if you’re pairing it with an Artisan head or any amp that thrives on nuance, it becomes something special.
