Description

This second hand guitar effects pedal is in very good condition.

Does have velcro on the bottom of the pedal.

The NS‑2 is reliable, predictable, and built like a tank. It’s not the most transparent noise gate on the market, nor the fastest, but it strikes a sweet spot between simplicity and control. For guitarists running high‑gain amps, stacked drives, or noisy single‑coil pickups, it can clean up a rig dramatically.

Key Features

  • Threshold & Decay controls give you flexibility to dial in how aggressively the gate clamps down.
  • Reduction indicator shows when the gate is active, super helpful on dark stages.
  • Send/Return loop is the real magic. It allows you to isolate noisy pedals (like high‑gain distortion or fuzz) so the gate reacts only to what matters.
  • Boss build quality means it’s road‑ready and dependable.

Noise Reduction

The NS‑2 excels at removing hiss, hum, and pedal-chain noise without choking your sustain. When set correctly, it feels natural and unobtrusive. It’s not as lightning‑fast as modern studio‑style gates, but for live use and most pedalboard setups, it’s more than enough.

Tone

Boss designed the NS‑2 to be neutral, and for the most part it is. Some players claim a slight tonal coloration when it’s placed in front of the amp, but using the loop minimizes this. In most real‑world setups, the tone remains intact.

Ease of Use

It’s straightforward, but the loop can confuse beginners. Once you understand the routing, though, it becomes a powerful tool.

 Strengths

  • Extremely reliable and durable
  • Effective at taming pedalboard noise
  • Loop system offers superior control
  • Works well with high‑gain rigs
  • Affordable and widely available

 Best For

  • Metal and hard‑rock players with high‑gain amps
  • Guitarists using multiple overdrives or fuzzes
  • Anyone with noisy single‑coil pickups
  • Players who want a dependable, set‑and‑forget solution

The Boss NS‑2 is a classic for a reason. It’s not the flashiest or most modern noise gate, but it’s incredibly effective, versatile, and built to last. If you want a pedal that cleans up your signal without fuss it’s still one of the best options out there.
