Description

This second-hand guitar is in very good condition, with only a few minor surface scratches from previous use. These are purely cosmetic and do not affect the playability or functionality of the instrument.

The Epiphone EB-3 is a distinctive electric bass that takes its inspiration from the iconic Gibson EB-3, combining classic styling with a powerful and versatile tonal character. Finished in classic Ebony Black, the EB-3 has a striking appearance, with its instantly recognisable double-cutaway body and traditional bass styling. It is an excellent choice for players looking for an instrument with plenty of character and something a little different from the more familiar Precision and Jazz Bass designs.

The bass features a mahogany body, giving it a naturally warm and resonant tonal foundation. The double-cutaway design not only gives the EB-3 its unmistakable appearance but also allows comfortable access to the higher frets. This makes it particularly useful for players who like to explore the full length of the fingerboard, while the relatively compact body remains comfortable when played either standing or seated.

One of the defining features of the EB-3 is its pickup configuration. The large neck-position humbucker produces the big, warm and powerful low-end associated with the classic EB-3 design. It is capable of delivering a thick, punchy sound that works particularly well for rock, blues and heavier styles. The additional bridge pickup provides a contrasting tonal character, adding more definition and brightness when required and giving the player greater flexibility when shaping their sound.

The pickup controls allow the player to balance the different voices of the bass and create a wide range of sounds. The neck pickup can provide a deep and rounded response, while using the bridge pickup introduces more attack and clarity. This makes the EB-3 surprisingly versatile despite its strongly vintage-inspired design, allowing it to work across a variety of playing styles.

The shorter-scale format also contributes to the character of the EB-3, offering a comfortable playing experience with a slightly different feel from a conventional long-scale bass. The reduced scale length can make the instrument particularly appealing to players who prefer a more compact neck, while still providing the full-bodied response expected from an electric bass.

Visually, the EB-3 retains many of the features that made the original design so recognisable. The symmetrical double-cutaway body, substantial neck pickup and classic black finish give it a distinctly vintage-inspired appearance. It is a bass that stands out on stage and offers an appealing alternative for players who want their instrument to have as much personality visually as it does sonically.

The EB-3 is particularly well suited to rock, blues, classic rock and heavier music, where its powerful humbucker can provide plenty of weight and presence. It can also be used effectively in other styles thanks to the tonal variation available from its pickup configuration and controls. Whether you're looking for a bass with a strong vintage character or simply want an instrument that offers something different, the Epiphone EB-3 is an interesting and distinctive option.

Combining its classic Gibson-inspired design, mahogany construction, comfortable playing feel and powerful pickup configuration, the Epiphone EB-3 offers a unique alternative to more conventional bass guitars. Its combination of looks and sound gives it plenty of character, making it an appealing instrument for both players familiar with the original EB-3 design and those discovering this style of bass for the first time.
