Fender Newporter Special Mahogany

The Fender Newporter Special Mahogany is a distinctive electro-acoustic guitar that combines Fender's unmistakable styling with the warmth and character of an all-solid mahogany construction. Part of Fender's California Series, the Newporter features a mid-sized body shape that offers a comfortable playing experience without sacrificing projection or tonal depth. Its natural satin finish, elegant maple detailing and familiar Fender six-in-line headstock give it a look that stands apart from more traditional acoustic guitars.

The all-solid mahogany body, comprising the top, back and sides, produces a warm, balanced sound with a strong midrange presence and a naturally smooth character. It responds particularly well to fingerpicking, delivering good note definition and clarity, while strummed chords have plenty of body and warmth. Quartersawn scalloped X-bracing helps the soundboard resonate freely, giving the guitar an expressive acoustic voice with impressive tonal depth.

Playability is another strong feature. The mahogany neck has a comfortable Slim C profile, offering a familiar feel that will appeal particularly to electric guitar players moving across to acoustic. The 25.6-inch scale length and 43mm nut width provide a comfortable playing surface, while the pau ferro fingerboard and bridge add to the instrument's quality feel. A bone nut and saddle, sealed nickel tuning machines and 20 frets complete a well-appointed specification.

For amplified performance, the Newporter Special features a Fender and Fishman-designed pickup and preamp system, specifically voiced for the Newporter body shape. The onboard controls include volume, bass and treble adjustment, together with a built-in tuner and phase control. This provides useful flexibility when connecting to an acoustic amplifier, PA system or recording equipment, helping to retain the guitar's natural acoustic character when amplified.

The Fender Newporter Special Mahogany is an appealing choice for players looking for something a little different from a conventional acoustic guitar. Its combination of all-solid mahogany construction, comfortable Fender-style neck and versatile onboard electronics makes it equally suited to home playing, songwriting, recording and live performance. A well-crafted and characterful electro-acoustic with plenty of personality.
