Description

This second hand electric guitar is in great condition and includes original Gibson hard case and paperwork.

The Gibson Les Paul Junior Ebony is a classic American-made electric guitar that demonstrates just how much can be achieved through simplicity. Part of Gibson's Original Collection, this 2024 model takes the unmistakable Les Paul silhouette and strips it back to the essentials, combining traditional construction with a powerful, characterful sound. Finished in gloss Ebony with a contrasting tortoiseshell pickguard and nickel hardware, it has a distinctive vintage-inspired appearance that suits its no-nonsense approach to guitar playing.

The guitar features a solid mahogany body paired with a mahogany neck, providing a familiar foundation for the warm, punchy tonal character associated with the Les Paul Junior. Its single-cutaway body design is instantly recognisable, while the Vintage '50s neck profile offers a substantial, rounded feel that many players appreciate for its comfortable grip and solid playing response. The rosewood fingerboard features 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional dot inlays, providing a smooth playing surface for everything from open chords and rhythm work to expressive bends and lead lines. With Gibson's classic 24.75-inch scale length, the guitar delivers a familiar feel and a responsive playing experience.

At the heart of the Les Paul Junior is a single Gibson P-90 Dog Ear pickup in the bridge position. This distinctive single-coil design delivers a powerful, direct sound with plenty of midrange bite, making it particularly well suited to rock, blues, punk and alternative music. The pickup combines the clarity and attack of a single-coil with a thicker, more forceful character than many traditional designs. Through a clean amplifier, it produces articulate tones with plenty of presence, while adding overdrive brings out its gritty, aggressive side. It is particularly effective for crunchy rhythm parts, punchy riffs and singing lead tones that cut through a mix.

The single-pickup configuration is a major part of the Junior's appeal. Rather than relying on multiple pickups and complex switching options, the guitar places the emphasis on playing dynamics and straightforward controls. A single volume knob and tone control allow players to shape their sound quickly, with the volume control particularly useful for cleaning up the tone or reducing gain without changing amplifier settings. The hand-wired electronics, including Orange Drop capacitors, complement the traditional design and provide a direct, uncomplicated signal path.

Hardware is equally traditional, with a compensated wraparound bridge offering a simple, solid string anchoring arrangement designed to provide good sustain and reliable intonation. Vintage Deluxe tuning machines complete the classic specification, while the gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish gives the Ebony model a polished, timeless appearance. The contrasting tortoiseshell pickguard adds a touch of vintage character, making the guitar visually distinctive without unnecessary decoration.

The Gibson Les Paul Junior Ebony 2024 is an excellent choice for guitarists who value direct, responsive tones and a straightforward playing experience. Its combination of mahogany construction, a powerful P-90 pickup and traditional Gibson styling makes it particularly appealing to players who favour classic rock, blues, punk and garage-inspired sounds. By focusing on the essentials, Gibson has created an instrument with plenty of personality, proving that a single pickup and a simple control layout can deliver an impressive range of expressive tones.
