Description

This second hand guitar is in very good condition. Please note this is a high gloss instrument, reflections of the surrounding environment may be seen in the photographs.

The Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block Jr with Bigsby is a compact semi-hollow electric guitar that combines classic Gretsch styling with a versatile range of tones and a comfortable, easy-playing design. This 2016 model is finished in striking Black and features the distinctive appointments that make Gretsch guitars instantly recognisable, including a traditional Bigsby vibrato, elegant body shape and classic control layout. Its smaller Center Block Jr body makes it particularly comfortable for players who prefer a more compact instrument without sacrificing the character and feel of a semi-hollow guitar.

The G2655T features a laminated maple semi-hollow body with a solid centre block running through the body. This construction provides the resonance and openness associated with a semi-hollow guitar while giving the instrument greater stability and helping to reduce unwanted feedback when used with higher-gain amplification. The double-cutaway design also provides comfortable access to the higher frets, making the guitar suitable for both rhythm playing and lead work.

A pair of Gretsch Broad'Tron humbucking pickups provides the main tonal character of the G2655T. These pickups offer a strong, articulate sound with plenty of body and output, making the guitar capable of covering a wide range of styles. Clean tones have a warm and full character, while pushing the amplifier produces a lively overdriven sound with plenty of definition. The pickups make the G2655T particularly well suited to rock, blues, indie, alternative and classic rock, while its semi-hollow construction also gives it plenty of character for jazzier and cleaner styles.

The guitar's control layout is straightforward and versatile, with individual volume controls for each pickup, a master volume control and master tone control. The three-way pickup selector allows the player to quickly move between the neck pickup, bridge pickup and both pickups together, providing a useful selection of sounds for different playing situations. This makes the G2655T equally useful as a rhythm guitar or as a lead instrument.

The neck has a comfortable feel and is paired with a rosewood fingerboard featuring 22 medium jumbo frets and classic pearloid position markers. The 24.75-inch scale length gives the guitar a familiar feel, with slightly lower string tension than a longer-scale instrument and a comfortable reach between frets. The double-cutaway body complements this playing position, allowing easy access across the fingerboard.

One of the most distinctive features is the Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. Rather than being designed for extreme pitch changes, the Bigsby is ideal for adding subtle vibrato, gentle pitch movement and expressive effects to chords and sustained notes. It also adds considerably to the traditional Gretsch appearance, giving the G2655T a classic look that stands out from more conventional semi-hollow guitars.

The Adjusto-Matic bridge works alongside the Bigsby to provide accurate intonation and a solid platform for the strings. Combined with the guitar's centre block construction and quality hardware, this gives the G2655T a reassuringly substantial feel despite its relatively compact body size.

Visually, the Black finish works particularly well with the Gretsch styling, giving the guitar a smart and understated appearance while allowing the chrome hardware and Bigsby vibrato to stand out. The result is a guitar that looks equally at home on stage, in the studio or as a versatile instrument for home playing.

The Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block Jr is a particularly appealing option for players who want the distinctive character of a Gretsch semi-hollow guitar in a smaller and more manageable format. With its Broad'Tron humbuckers, centre block construction, comfortable neck, versatile controls and Bigsby vibrato, it offers a broad tonal palette while retaining the distinctive character and visual appeal that Gretsch guitars are known for.
