Description
This second hand electro-acoustic guitar is in great condition
The Martin Dreadnought Junior DJR‑10E delivers big‑guitar tone in a smaller, more comfortable package, making it one of Martin’s most approachable and versatile modern acoustics. It’s designed for players who want the warmth and projection of a dreadnought without the bulk.
What the DJR‑10E Is
The DJR‑10E is a 15/16‑size dreadnought with a 24" short scale, giving it a compact feel while retaining much of the fullness and punch associated with Martin’s larger bodies.
Tone and Sound Character
Despite its smaller footprint, the DJR‑10E produces a surprisingly big, warm voice. Key tonal traits include:
- Strong low‑end presence for its size
- Clear, balanced mids that suit strumming and fingerstyle
- Articulate highs without harshness
- Short scale warmth and looseness, making it feel lively and responsive
Playability and Feel
The short 24" scale reduces string tension, making bends easier and chords more forgiving. Combined with the smaller body, it’s ideal for:
- Players with smaller hands
- Younger or beginner players
- Anyone who finds full dreadnoughts too bulky
Build and Materials
Typical DJR‑10E specs include:
- Solid Sitka spruce top
- Sapele back and sides
- Hand‑rubbed finish
- Fishman Sonitone electronics for simple, reliable amplification
Martin builds these in their Mexico facility, known for consistent craftsmanship and excellent value.
Electronics and Live Use
The Fishman Sonitone system keeps things straightforward:
- Soundhole‑mounted controls
- Natural, uncoloured plugged‑in tone
- Low feedback tendency
- Ideal for singer‑songwriters and open‑mic performers
Pros
- Big, warm tone for a smaller guitar
- Extremely comfortable and easy to play
- Great for travel, practice, and performance
- Solid‑top construction with Martin character
- Reliable Fishman electronics
- Excellent value for money
Cons
- Not as loud or deep as a full dreadnought
- Short scale may feel too slinky for heavy strummers
- Minimalist electronics may be too basic for some players
The Martin DJR‑10E is a fantastic all‑rounder that blends portability, comfort, and genuine Martin tone. It’s ideal for players who want dreadnought warmth without dreadnought size, and it works equally well as a main guitar, travel companion, or stage instrument. Its sound‑to‑size ratio is one of the best in its class.
