Description
Description
The Ozark Concert Bouzouki Flat Back (model 2225) is a solid‑wood Irish/folk bouzouki with a flat back and long scale (~660 mm) that’s designed primarily for acoustic playing in Irish, Celtic, and folk styles. It’s a step up from basic starter instruments and aimed at players who want richer tone and resonance without boutique pricing.
Key construction details:
Solid spruce top — crisp articulation with lively response.
Solid maple back, sides and neck — warmth, balance and structural strength.
Slotted headstock and gold‑plated hardware — traditional look with stable tuning.
Carved wooden soundhole rose and decorative purfling — traditional aesthetic.
Tuning designed for Irish styles (usually G‑D‑A‑E or E‑A‑D‑G) — gives a warmer, richer voice unlike Greek‑style bouzoukis.
👍 Pros
🎵 Rich, Warm Acoustic Tone
The combination of a solid spruce top and solid maple body yields a sound that’s clear, balanced and musical, with enough volume to be heard in acoustic sessions. The lower frequencies are smoother and warmer than many cheaper models — ideal for Irish and folk arrangements.
📏 Full‑Size Scale with Good Projection
With a 660 mm scale and deep body, the 2225 has plenty of resonance and sustain, giving each course of strings a rich voice and good separation. It’s louder and more defined than smaller or laminate instruments.
🎸 Comfortable Playability
Despite its long scale, the neck and fretboard design are fairly accessible for players familiar with guitar or mandolin — the slotted headstock and quality tuners also help keep it stable in tune during long sessions.
🎨 Visual & Build Quality
Celtic‑inspired decorative elements (soundhole rosette, purfling) and gold‑plated hardware give it a classic acoustic folk look that matches its musical character.
👎 Cons
🔇 Less Volume Than High‑End Bouzoukis
Although the tone is rich, the flat‑back design and mid‑range construction mean it won’t project quite as loudly or intricately as carved‑top or boutique bouzoukis — especially in larger acoustic ensembles.
