The Ozark 2104TS is a short‑scale, 4‑string tenor banjo with a detachable resonator and padded gig bag included — essentially a compact tenor banjo that’s ideal for players of Irish, jazz, folk or blues styles who prefer a lighter instrument or want something easy to travel with.
📌 Key Features
Short scale (~505 mm): Easier to play and more portable than full‑size tenor models.
Diecast one‑piece shell and flange: Solid build that helps with tuning stability and consistent head tension.
Remo Weatherking head: A reliable banjo head known for responsive tone.
Detachable resonator: Lets you play with fuller volume or mellow open‑back style.
Mahogany neck & rosewood fretboard: Warm tone with familiar feel for many banjoists.
30 plated brackets & geared tuners: Standard hardware that’s good at this price point.
Includes padded gig bag: Handy for travel and storage.
👍 Pros
🎒 Compact & Comfortable to Play
Its shorter scale and lighter size make it especially suitable for players with smaller hands or those who want a banjo for travel, casual jams, or rehearsals without the bulk of a full‑size instrument.
🎶 Versatile Tone
The detachable resonator allows you to switch between louder, resonator‑style projection and a warmer, more traditional open‑back banjo sound — useful if you play multiple styles like jazz, Irish folk, or blues.
💼 Good Value Around Its Price Point
Brands like Ozark aim to offer solid build quality and practical features at accessible prices, making this a good starter instrument or a secondary banjo in your collection.
🎵 Playability
Having geared tuners and a reasonably responsive head makes getting in tune and staying there easier — especially if you’re new to banjo or a casual player.
👎 Cons
🔊 Limited Projection
Being short scale and more compact, the 2104TS won’t be as loud or sustain as much as full‑size tenor banjos — but that’s typical for instruments in this category.
📉 Less Suited for Heavy Bluegrass
This tenor format is great for Irish, jazz, or folk, but players seeking strong bluegrass sound or aggressive fingerpicking might prefer a standard‑scale 5‑string banjo instead.
