Description

This second hand electric guitar is in great condition

Includes original Rickenbacker hard case

The Rickenbacker 660 Mapleglo is one of those guitars that immediately stands apart from the crowd.

While many players associate Rickenbacker with jangly semi-hollow 300 Series guitars, the 660 takes that unmistakable DNA and packages it into a compact solid-body instrument with vintage-inspired appointments, exceptional craftsmanship and a sound that's instantly recognisable.

Finished in the timeless Mapleglo natural gloss, the beautifully figured maple body and neck are allowed to shine through, giving every guitar its own unique character. The iconic checkered binding, triangular pearloid inlays and oversized headstock complete a look that's unmistakably Rickenbacker.

The model features a neck-through construction, 24¾-inch scale and a wider 1¾-inch nut than many other Rickenbacker guitars, making it particularly comfortable for players who prefer a little more room across the fretboard.

Tonally, the 660 is all about clarity. Its pair of Vintage Toaster pickups deliver sparkling cleans with remarkable note separation, chiming highs and a focused midrange that cuts through a mix without ever becoming harsh.

It excels at classic rock, indie, folk-rock, country and British Invasion tones, but with the right amp it also produces warm blues sounds and articulate overdriven textures.

Despite its vintage styling, the 660 feels reassuringly solid. The maple construction provides excellent sustain and snap, while the neck-through design adds resonance that many bolt-on guitars struggle to match. It's a guitar that rewards dynamic playing, responding beautifully to picking nuances and volume adjustments.

The Mapleglo finish is perhaps the purest expression of the model, highlighting the natural beauty of the maple and ageing gracefully over time. It's understated compared to some of Rickenbacker's more colourful finishes, but no less eye-catching.

Pros

  • Outstanding build quality and American craftsmanship
  • Iconic Rickenbacker styling with classic Mapleglo finish
  • Wide neck offers improved comfort over many traditional Rickenbacker models
  • Crystal-clear Vintage Toaster pickups with exceptional articulation
  • Superb sustain thanks to neck-through construction
  • Lightweight and comfortable for long playing sessions

The Rickenbacker 660 Mapleglo is a guitar for players who appreciate individuality. It doesn't try to imitate a Stratocaster or a Les Paul, instead it offers its own unmistakable character, combining vintage looks with superb craftsmanship and distinctive clean tones .

Whether you're chasing the sounds of the '60s or simply want a premium American-made guitar that stands out both visually and sonically, the 660 is a truly special instrument that rarely disappoints.
