The AMI JG-150 is a full-sized dreadnought acoustic guitar that blends classic tonewoods with vintage styling. It’s part of AMI’s SG Series, which aims to deliver professional-grade features at a mid-range price. With its high-gloss Vintage Sunburst finish and solid Sitka spruce top, it’s built to impress both visually and sonically.

Branding Breakdown

• Sigma Guitars were originally launched by C.F. Martin & Co. in 1970 as a budget-friendly line to compete with Japanese imports.
• In 2007, Martin discontinued Sigma and sold the rights to AMI GmbH, a German company that had long distributed Martin guitars in Europe.
• AMI relaunched Sigma globally, but due to trademark issues in the U.S. (where the Sigma name had lapsed and was picked up by St. Louis Music), AMI cannot use the Sigma name in the U.S..
• As a result, the same guitars are sold as Sigma in Europe and AMI in the U.S., with identical specs and build quality.

Features & Build

This guitar features a solid Sitka spruce top, which provides clarity and dynamic range. The back and sides are made of laminated Indian rosewood, adding warmth and depth to the tone. The neck is mahogany, paired with a Micarta fingerboard and bridge — a durable alternative to traditional rosewood. Bone nut and saddle components enhance sustain and tonal transfer.

The nut width is 44.5 mm, slightly wider than standard, making it ideal for fingerstyle players. The scale length is 645 mm, and it has 20 frets. Multi-ply cream and black binding adds a touch of elegance, while the tortoise-style pickguard complements the vintage aesthetic.

Tonally, the JG-150 delivers a balanced sound with crisp highs and full-bodied lows. The dreadnought shape ensures strong projection, making it suitable for both solo performance and ensemble playing.
