Description
Description
This second hand acoustic guitar is in good condition.
Action is a bit on the high side, and is missing the truss rod cover.
The 2011 Taylor 110ce is one of the strongest early examples of Taylor’s affordable but still premium philosophy. It delivers bright, articulate tone, superb playability, and a surprisingly mature voice for a guitar built with layered back and sides. Even today, it holds up as a reliable workhorse for strummers, singer‑songwriters, and gigging players.
The early‑2010s 110ce models were part of Taylor’s first major push into accessible, Mexican‑built acoustics. They share the same neck design and overall build philosophy as the American models, but with a more rugged, gig‑friendly construction.
Key construction features (2011 era)
-
Top: Solid Sitka spruce
Classic Taylor shimmer, strong projection, and plenty of dynamic range. -
Back & Sides: Layered sapele (not walnut yet)
This gives the 2011 model a slightly warmer, woodier midrange than the later walnut versions. -
Neck: Maple with the NT bolt‑on design
Ultra‑stable, easy to adjust, and famously comfortable. -
Body: Full dreadnought with Venetian cutaway
Big volume, strong strumming response, and easy upper‑fret access.
The 2011 run is known for being extremely consistent—Taylor’s Mexican factory was already dialled in by this point
Tone profile (2011)
The 2011 110ce has a slightly different tonal personality compared to modern versions:
- Bright, clear highs – classic Taylor sparkle
- Warm, woody mids – thanks to the layered sapele
- Tight, controlled bass – not boomy, but present
- Strong projection – dreadnought punch without mud
It’s a guitar that rewards clean playing and open chords. Strummers get volume and clarity; fingerpickers get articulation without harshness.
Electronics (2011 ES-T System)
Before the ES2 arrived, Taylor used the ES‑T pickup in the 110ce:
- Under‑saddle piezo with Taylor voicing
- Volume, Bass, Treble controls
- Clean, reliable, slightly mid‑forward tone
It’s not as natural as the later ES2, but it’s very usable live, especially for solo performers or acoustic duos.
Home playing
Loud, lively, and inspiring. Great for songwriting.
Recording
Bright and articulate, it sits well in a mix.
Gigging
Lightweight, reliable, and the ES‑T system is plug‑and‑play. A very dependable working musician’s guitar.
Strengths
- Excellent playability
- Bright, articulate Taylor tone
- Warm midrange from the sapele build
- Strong projection for strumming
- Reliable ES‑T electronics
- Very consistent build quality
The Taylor 110ce (2011) is a lively, articulate dreadnought with superb playability and a warm‑yet‑bright voice that still holds up beautifully today. It’s a guitar that feels professional without being precious, and it’s one of the most reliable “working musician” acoustics of its era.
