TC Electronic Thrust BQ250 Bass Amplifier Head

This Bass Amplifier head is in very good condition.

The TC Electronic Thrust BQ250 is a compact yet powerful bass amplifier head designed for players who want plenty of volume and tonal flexibility without having to carry around a large, heavy amplifier. Delivering 250 watts of output power, the BQ250 is more than capable of handling rehearsals, recording sessions and live performances, while its lightweight design makes it particularly easy to transport between venues. Its combination of a MOSFET preamp and Class-D power amplifier provides a punchy, responsive character with plenty of headroom for modern bass playing.

The BQ250 features a comprehensive four-band EQ section with Bass, Lo-Mid, Hi-Mid and Treble controls, allowing you to shape your sound from deep and powerful lows through to articulate upper mids and crisp high frequencies. This makes it suitable for a wide range of basses, playing styles and musical genres. Whether you prefer a warm and rounded vintage-style sound, a focused modern tone or something with plenty of midrange definition, the flexible EQ gives you plenty of control over the character of your instrument.

One of the standout features is TC Electronic's Thrust compressor. Designed specifically for bass, this provides additional control over the dynamics of your playing while helping to create a more powerful and consistent sound. Compression can be particularly useful for adding punch and sustain, evening out differences in playing dynamics and helping your bass sit more confidently within a band mix. The BQ250 also includes a Passive/Active input setting, making it easy to accommodate basses with either passive or active electronics.

Connectivity is another strong point of the BQ250. The amplifier includes a balanced XLR DI output, making it simple to connect directly to a PA system, mixing desk or recording interface without requiring an additional DI box. The DI signal can be configured to provide either a pre-EQ or post-EQ signal, giving you greater flexibility when recording or performing live. A speakON speaker output provides a secure connection to a suitable bass cabinet, with the amplifier capable of delivering its full output into a 4-ohm load.

For practice and quieter playing, the BQ250 also includes a headphone output with speaker simulation, allowing you to practise without connecting the amplifier to a conventional speaker cabinet. An auxiliary input is provided for connecting an external audio source, making it possible to play along with backing tracks, music or other practice material. This combination of features makes the BQ250 equally useful as a compact gigging amplifier and as a convenient practice and recording solution.

Despite its impressive power output, the BQ250 has a remarkably compact footprint and weighs only around 2.2kg. Its straightforward control layout means that it is quick and easy to operate, while the rugged metal chassis is designed to cope with the demands of regular use. It can be paired with a suitable bass cabinet to create a powerful yet highly portable rig, making it an excellent option for bassists who value portability without wanting to compromise on performance.

With its 250-watt output, flexible four-band EQ, built-in Thrust compressor, balanced DI output, headphone connection and auxiliary input, the TC Electronic Thrust BQ250 offers an impressive range of features in a very small package. It is a practical and versatile choice for bassists looking for a reliable amplifier head that can cover everything from home practice and recording through to rehearsals and live performance.
